Have An Ergonomic Thanksgiving Holiday With the Varier Move Stool and an UpLift Mat

The Varier Move Stool works in the office or the home for several applications.

When I picture the holidays at my house, no one is sitting down. The boys are running rampant in the yard, the aunts and uncles are on their feet cheering during a football game, and my sister and mother and I are in the kitchen scrambling to avoid the dogs and get dinner on and off the table. My family is more loud and chaotic than most, but it’s true that the majority of people are in the kitchen on the marathon cooking day that is Thanksgiving. We have a few ways to make your kitchen more ergonomic, comfortable — even chic — on Thanksgiving and throughout the year.

First off, the classic kitchen stool or bar stool, reinvented. If there was one item to get my mother to make things a bit easier, it would be this one. Bar stools are popular in kitchens because of they are a sleek, yet casual element. The ergonomic versions allow you to reposition and balance your body while chopping, stir-frying, or sipping your favorite beverage! These stools are designed so that you can perch on the edge and shift some weight off of your feet. The Varier Move Stool (pictured on left and at top) is my favorite for its ease of style. Also popular is the ergoCentric 3 in 1 Sit Stand Stool, the Office Master WS15 Work Stool, and the gorgeous Humanscale Freedom Pony Saddle Seat.

The Varier Move Stool features an intuitive, elegant shape that will blend beautifully with your decor.

In an interview with Home and Garden Television (HGTV),  ergonomically-conscious designer Jenna Levenstein notes the following benefits about stools, “You can sit down while mixing or doing any kind of food preparation … and when most people sit on a stool, they sit balanced, and practice better posture.”  An easy and eye-appealing fix for your tired feet!

Speaking of tired feet, another option to take the pressure off of your feet, knees, legs, and lower back in the kitchen is a floor mat. If you can’t uproot your kitchen and replace your floors with a “bouncy” material as architect and author Oreste Drapaca recommends, the next option is to purchase an inexpensive yet effective anti-fatigue mat. The UpLift Sit-Stand Desk Mat is lightweight, durable, and liquid resistant.

Here at The Human Solution, our goal is to make you healthy and happy all year round, whether at work or at home. These accessories will spiff up your kitchen while promoting good posture and limber joints!  If you have any questions, please reach out to us.  You can call us at 800-531-3746, email us, or talk with one of our standing desk experts via chat.
