Choosing A Keyboard Tray System Is As Easy as 1, 2, 3!

If you are in the market for a keyboard tray, you may find that the more you research them, the more questions you have. For example, what is a mechanism? Do I need an “above desk” keyboard tray? What does “standard” actually mean? I could write several paragraphs full of advice, break down the options, and give you detail after detail, but here at The Human Solution, we are all about making things easier for you, so we put together this awesome video (posted above) to demonstrate some of the most popular keyboard tray configurations available and also to explain what you need to consider when choosing a keyboard tray.

As you will see, there are few simple questions for you to consider, and the answers to those questions will really help you narrow down the options. It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3…

  1. First, how much room do you have to mount the track to the underside of your desk? This is crucial, because if you can’t mount the track, you can’t mount the mechanism, and then you can’t use the keyboard tray.
  2. Second, what shape or size tray do you want? This is a matter of personal preference, but can also be determined by what type of keyboard you use. Do you have a natural shaped ergonomic keyboard? Then go with a natural shaped tray, like the Humanscale 100. Decision made! That was easy!
  3. Finally, do you need your keyboard tray to perform a specific function, like turn your fixed-height workstation into a standing workstation? Then choose an above desk mechanism, like the 5GAD mechanism that is available with any of the Humanscale keyboard trays. Have a limited amount of depth? Go with the Humanscale 5GSM. Just need to get your keyboard lower and closer to your body as you work? A standard mechanism, like the Humanscale 6G will work perfectly for you.

Watch the video above to see examples of all of these things. If you are still unsure of what will work best for you, our experts are available to help you. Just call us at 800-531-3746 or visit us in live chat!
