Recently on the Late Late Show, host James Corden received a walking desk as a gift from his band leader, Reggie, who thought it would be a thoughtful gesture to help James reduce his lower back pain. Hilarity ensues, as you can see from the clip above.
While poor James’ desperate running is good comedy fodder, we don’t recommend actually running while you work. James clearly demonstrates that the two don’t typically go well together, as running will prevent you from being able to type, write, or mouse effectively. We recommend a speed between 1 mph and 2.5 mph, which is fast enough to get some healthy movement, but slow enough to let you work comfortably. If you’re really committed to running, the treadmill does go up to 4 mph, so you could run while you read an article on your computer screen or watch a webinar training.
Our UPLIFT Treadmill Desk lets you go from sitting to standing to walking, all at the touch of a button, and offers a wide range of configurations to suit your tastes. If you’d like to put a chair next to your treadmill, choose a top size that’s at least 72″ long. If you prefer a more traditional desk like the one in the video, you may be able to use of our height-adjustable desk frames and attach it to your existing desk. Give us a call to go over your desk’s dimensions, and we’ll help you determine if this option will work for you.
The many benefits of a walking desk include increased focus, energy, and creativity; lowered blood sugar and triglyceride levels; extra calorie burn; reduced risk of depression; and reduced risk of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Even just a little light movement throughout the day will help you combat the negative health effects that come from sitting in your office chair all day. If you’re interested in a healthier workday, give us a call, and let us help you go over your options.
